Easter 2016

We have had a sick little boy on our hands for about a week. Started as just a bad cold and has just stuck around. It did affect our Easter, in that we couldn't make it to church. I really missed the service and celebrating Christs resurrection for our sins.

Sunday morning we got up and Austin quickly saw his Easter basket and started opening. He has been obsessed with "eggies" and especially loved that there was candy in the eggies.

After a morning nap, my family arrived for a brunch celebration. We had yummy egg casserole, homemade waffles, hash browns, fruit salad, coffee cake etc. YUM!
Austin got to open his second easter basket of the day (from my parents) and again went straight for the candy.

We headed outside on our deck for some play time. Also got some help from my brothers with some DIY projects we needed to finish. All in all, it was a quiet, great day. I am blessed 100%!

Happenings

Life lately seems to be going slowly and quickly (if thats possible). Quickly because Austin is growing so fast and the days seem to jet by. Slowly, because the weeks of this pregnancy are now dragging by. We also have so much to do to prep for babies arrival...but I am tired by noon and then lose all motivation to complete anything.

Last week, Austin and I made the trip to my parents for one night (while hubby was at training). Austin enjoyed time outside with Kiki and Uncle Tim, while I was able to go shopping solo!

We took a trip to a local park which Austin loved!

Finally, my mom and I went to Old Navy to find Austin a new hat for the summer. He was absolutely hysterical trying on his hats and showing them off to other customers.

Sadly, we ended up heading home early due to a rough night of sleep. My boy just doesn't sleep well away from home. It took a few good, long naps for him to recover and adjust & THEN...Daylight Savings hit us. Curse it. We are somewhat adjusted now. Hopeful for some warm weather to arrive and stick around for a while.

Early Mornings

Our days start VERY early. Somewhere between 5-6am, I hear my little guy starting to stir in his crib. I can tell you 99% of the time I am no where near ready to awake. He is pretty good about being happy in his crib until I come get him, after 6am.

We head downstairs and begin our day. He gets his cup of milk and usually a homemade muffin- then we sit and watch a show of his liking. Long gone are the days where I can watch the news (generally I have no clue of the weather or anything else happening). While he is content, I make coffee, read my devotions and catch up on some of my favorite blog reading (maybe I should check the weather instead).

Today I knew he would be extra tired because he was stirring around 5am (ugh). I knew it was a long morning ahead. There are a few places that open around 9am by us. It was a desperate move on my part but he wasn't going to last all morning if we didn't get out of the house.

So off to the pet store...

Do you see the baby mice in the picture above? I actually though they were cute. Worker at the store said they were 4 days old.

He loves the isle of turtles, spiders, snakes, bearded dragons and lovely other things. I hate it. I get the chills walking through and can just imagine if the animals got out of their cages.

This summed up our morning & while I attempted to get one more errand in...Austin fell asleep in the car. It was okay with me for a catnap, as I had time to sit and catch up on the internet. I am accepting that my days are controlled by naps and sleep. However, we are a much happier household when we get our rest.

Austin 20 months!

Life with this kid is entertaining! He is learning words and talking so much more (almost on a daily basis a new word shows up). He started using a fork very well & wants one with every meal. Lately his silly personality has come out- he dances in front of his full length mirror and he shows us his muscles. We have had a few nice days where he has been able to be outside- he is all boy. He was outside with daddy and ate his first mud pie. Gross.

MILESTONES/MOMENTS TO NOTE:
- 23.7 lbs (when at doctor last)
- goes up and down stairs
new words: happy, puppy, momma, mickey
- first trip to the aquarium (he enjoyed walking around just looking at people and some of the animals. He was just a little to young for some of the exhibits.
- almost completely down to 1 long nap a day (usually 2-3 hours)

LIKES:
- FaceTime with family
- Mickey Mouse
- Bath time!
