Weekend Recap

Already July 18th! Where is the summer going? Not sure about you but this heat wave we've been experiencing is making me, for the first time ever, want Fall to arrive. We haven't been able to open our pool (long story, will write about soon) and summer without a pool stinks!

Anyway...here's my weekend recap, followed by Monday meal plans!

Friday evening, while hubby worked, I met my friend and her 2 kiddos at Chick-Fil-A for dinner. Seeing as though I am nursing ladybug and she eats every 2-3 hours I have a limited time between feedings, unless I decide to nurse in public, which is next to impossible if I have bubba with me. Austin loves playing with other kids. I can't actually say he plays but his interactions are getting more on the play level. He loves to watch other kids and learn from them.

We jetted home to feed the babe, throw Austin into the bath and then off to bed for him. I shortly followed.

Saturday morning, Austin and Daddy went out for a Dunkin Donut Date. Hubs came home and told me there was an older man in the parking lot watching him walking with Austin. The man came up and said "Sorry if I was staring, I just remember doing that with my son and time goes so fast." Hubs told me the man was almost in tears. We try very hard to be present in everyday interactions with our kids and really enjoy each stage- I can't believe how fast it has already gone!

While they were out I got myself and ladybug ready for a walk. We have to go super early before it gets hot, so I was out and back before 8:30am. It was really one of the first exercising walks I have taken since giving birth getting pregnant and it felt great. I am slowly getting back into the swing of things.

Since our pool hasn't been opened and I wasn't cleared to be submerged in water, we haven't been swimming at all. So I asked a friend if we could come over and swim for a bit. I wanted to expose Austin to the water...sure enough, exactly what I anticipated happened, he FREAKED out. Clung to my neck and kept saying "out, out, out".  Definitely have my work cut out for me next summer.

The remainder of our Saturday was just relaxing and getting things done around the house. Cooked a yummy dinner of kabob chicken, grilled veggies and brown rice. Austin has been more daring in trying vegetables and downed some grilled carrots.

Sunday we headed to church, I baked some Banana Chocolate Chip mini-muffins during nap time, worked on the blog and then we went grocery shopping. I am learning it's the little things in life, that we do together as a family, that make it special. (That sounds like a Daniel Tiger episode...)

*On another note, more police shootings happened this past weekend. My heart is in shambles. As the wife of a police officer, I am at a loss. The worry I experience is insane when he is at work. My prayers are for other LEO families and for the hate and misunderstanding in this country to improve. Prayers!*
